Rox Resort: a glasshouse pool club near Copenhagen
A long pool under a curved glass roof, beef tataki served to your daybed, a fire room for reading, and a DJ when the sun goes down. Half an hour from Copenhagen, and unlike anything in the city.
The verdict
Luxury and attention to detail at every turn. Rox is a complete experience, and something quite different from anything else you will find around Copenhagen.
Walk down the stairs and the pool opens up in front of you: long, blue and perfectly symmetrical under a curved glass roof, with daybeds in floral fabric and parasols on both sides. It looks more like the Riviera than Denmark in early spring.
We stayed one night at Rox, half an hour’s drive from Copenhagen. Everything here is brand new, and full of stylish details.
The Pool Club
We spent the morning here, and the service was remarkable. The moment we picked up the menu, a friendly waiter was there to take our order.

Food at the pool
The pool bar menu is seriously good, and surprisingly ambitious for something you eat on a daybed. We loved the beef tataki with green papaya and pak choi, and the chicken dumplings with smoked Sichuan oil and spring onion.

Under glass
In the evening, a DJ takes over and the pool turns into a party. A completely different mood from the calm of the morning, and great fun.

The fire room
Next to the pool is a fire relaxation room, with a fire burning in the fireplace and soft double daybeds. Bring a book and enjoy a few hours of silence.
Fire
There are fireplaces everywhere at Rox: in the pool area, in the lounges, and hanging from the ceiling in the bar.
Flames in the fire pit by the pool.

The rooms
Our room was new and full of lovely details: a curved, upholstered headboard, warm lamps and soft colours. But it was the bathroom we liked most, with green tiles and brass fittings.
Our room
Every detail has been thought through, down to the towels.

The bar and restaurant
Before dinner we went to the bar for a drink, and felt welcome from the very first moment. A waiter came over to ask about our day, took our cocktail orders, and brought a bowl of salted, roasted Marcona almonds on the house. Yummy! They were so good, and topped up so generously, that we almost spoiled our appetite for dinner. Consider yourself warned.
The lounge
The restaurant has pink armchairs, round tables and golden lamps. At breakfast, the buffet was full of fresh berries and small, pretty dishes.

What we loved
- The Pool Club in the morning, when we almost had it to ourselves
- Beef tataki and dumplings served to our daybed
- The quiet fire room, perfect with a book
- The bathroom, and all the small design details
- Marcona almonds in the bar, with endless refills
Worth knowing
- The evening pool party with a DJ is lively; go in the morning if you want calm
- Rox is made for adults
- Go easy on the almonds before dinner
Good to know
We drove from Copenhagen, which takes about half an hour, but you can also get there by train or other public transport. Rox suits all adults, whether you are friends on a getaway or a couple.
Our best tip: go to the Pool Club in the morning. Many guests have checked out, and the new ones have not yet checked in, so we had it almost to ourselves.
